Industry has identified the need to update occupational skills standards in line with current forest harvesting optimisation processes and technologies. This was outlined as one of the key skills priorities in the Four Year Work Plan, which is due to be submitted to the AISC by the end of September 2016.
The Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) have asked the Forest, Wood and Timber Products Industry Reference Committee (IRC) to develop a Business Case to provide evidence of the feasibility of this work. The AISC will then review this Business Case and determine whether to issue a Work Order and fund the proposed work.
The IRC is seeking feedback on the draft Business Case up until Monday 10 October 2016.
If the Business Case is approved for funding, the work to develop occupational skills standards will be carried out by Skills Impact, via ForestWorks, under the direction of the IRC.
