Our Role Establishing Skills Insight JSC

Skills Impact held a Skills Service Organisation (SSO) role between 2016 and 2022. In 2023 we established one of ten Job and Skills Councils (JSCs), after a submission to move into the role was backed by over 200 letters of support from a broad range of industry stakeholders. This new JSC, Skills Insight, has a broader scope to deliver outcomes that support a responsive VET system and a skilled and resilient national workforce. The industry coverage of Skills Insight is similar to our past coverage as a Skills Service Organisation.

Skills Impact has been invited to present at four major stakeholder network events in the coming months. Our presentations will focus on feedback and discussions we have had with many of you about how the VET sector can be improved. Our team has over 2,000 interactions with industry and training providers each quarter. Events like this are a great opportunity to share these view points.

NCVER No Frills

The NCVER No Frills event is being held in Adelaide, from 10-12 July. Skills impact will be presenting on the complexities of competency assessment. Register here

Associations Forum National Conference

This event is being held in Canberra, from 15-16 July. It brings together member-based associations, including industry, trade and professional bodies. Skills Impact has been invited to be part of a panel to discuss the significance of associations in boosting a skilled workforce. Register here

Australian Timber Trainers Association (ATTA) Workshop

This event is being held in Gold Coast, from 29-31 July. Skills Impact will present an update on the VET sector and views of industry towards improvements. There will also be an opportunity for participants to pass on their views for improvements needed in the operation of the VET sector.

Velg National VET Conference

The 2019 National VET Conference will be delivered over two days on the 12-13 September at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre. Our CEO Michael Hartman will be presenting on the over-simplification of the concept of competency and the issues this creates in the system, based on industry feedback. Register here
