Now’s your opportunity to take on and train new employees, with a 50 per cent wage subsidy available to businesses that take on new apprentices or trainees
Do you know a young person in your community who is looking for work? It is a great opportunity to give back to the community and help somebody looking for a job, offering them a career in your sector!
The Government announced this new wage subsidy as part of its $1.2 billion Boosting Apprenticeship Commencements initiative.
It is available to employers of any size, industry or geographic location, for a new apprentice or trainee undertaking a Certificate II or higher qualification, between 5 October 2020 to 30 September 2021, for a maximum of $7,000 per quarter, per eligible apprentice or trainee.
Only 100,000 places are available. Expectations are that the incentive will be popular.
So, if you have been wanting to upskill new or existing staff as part of a traineeship we encourage you to enquire about how the funding could apply to your business, and the training opportunities in your state or territory.
This is a once in a generation offer and a great time to invest in developing the skills of our future workforce.
– Michael Hartman, CEO of Skills Impact.

The subsidy is in addition to the Supporting Apprentices and Trainees subsidy that is already in place to support existing apprentices. This new subsidy extends the wage subsidy offer to new commencements and for suspended or cancelled apprentices that recommence.
