Our Role Establishing Skills Insight JSC

Skills Impact held a Skills Service Organisation (SSO) role between 2016 and 2022. In 2023 we established one of ten Job and Skills Councils (JSCs), after a submission to move into the role was backed by over 200 letters of support from a broad range of industry stakeholders. This new JSC, Skills Insight, has a broader scope to deliver outcomes that support a responsive VET system and a skilled and resilient national workforce. The industry coverage of Skills Insight is similar to our past coverage as a Skills Service Organisation.

Thanks for Your Feedback on Industry Environment & Developments

The pulp and paper manufacturing sector produces many essential products used in households and businesses every day. This has been highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic, which saw increased consumer demand for products like toilet paper, tissues, paper-based medical equipment and hygiene products.

Thank you for your comments on information outlined in the Annual Update to the IRC Skills Forecast and Proposed Schedule of Work (Skills Forecast) made available for feedback from 30 April – 14 May 2021.

This year’s Annual Update identifies specific changes to the industry environment over the past year. It includes information about employers’ use of the national

PPM – Pulp and Paper Manufacturing Industry Training Package and qualifications. It also highlights the challenges experienced by industry in effectively utilising the VET system. This annual update also outlines opportunities for the sector in recovered paper and bio-manufacturing.

The draft Annual Update will be submitted from the Pulp and Paper Manufacturing Industry Reference Committee (IRC) to the Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) for their consideration.
