Responding and Assisting in Bushfires Project
Thanks to the contributions of everyone involved in this project, three units have been developed to reflect the skills required for clearing and cleanup following a bushfire. Another four units relating to chainsaw operations have also been reviewed and updated.
The units have now been submitted to the Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) for endorsement, after which they will be forwarded to the State/Territory Skills Ministers. Once approved they will be published on the national register (training.gov.au).
Forestry operators, arborists and other service providers play an important role following bushfires. The developed and reviewed units will support the integral skills required to minimise health and safety risks and to take immediate actions to prevent harm and hazards associated with dangerous trees.
