Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the below projects over the past 12 months. As a result of your input, the draft qualifications, skill sets and units have been endorsed by the AISC and state and territory skills ministers. They are now published on the national training register (training.gov.au), which means they are available for use by registered training organisations (RTOs).
Responding and Assisting in Bushfires Project
Consultation has taken place throughout this project to develop and review units to support forestry operators, arborists and other service providers with the skills required for clearing and cleanup activities following bushfires.
Three units have been developed to equip operators with skills to minimise health and safety risks and to take immediate actions to prevent harm and hazards associated with dangerous trees.
Another four units relating to chainsaw operations have also been reviewed and updated.
The units have been endorsed by the Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) and the State/Territory Skills Ministers. They are now published on the national register (training.gov.au) and available for use by Registered Training Organisations (RTOs).

Sawmilling and Timber Processing Project
Thanks to everyone involved in this project, qualifications and skills standards for the sawmilling and engineered wood products have been reviewed and updated to to have a more flexible structure and reflect the skills needed for working with new equipment and innovative products.
The updated qualifications and units will allow learners to focus on particular skills or tasks that they are interested in or are important to industry.
They have been endorsed by the Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) and the State/Territory Skills Ministers and are now published on the national register (training.gov.au) and available for use by registered training organisations (RTOs).
