The qualifications, skill sets and units of competency that were reviewed and developed as part of the Greyhounds Project and Equine Safety in Training Project are now published on training.gov.au. It follows endorsement by the Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) and means they are available for delivery by registered training organisations (RTOs).
The greyhound qualifications, skill sets and units are embedded within the RGR Racing Training Package (published on 18/12/2017).
The equine qualifications, skill sets and units are embedded within the following training packages:
- ACM Animal Care and Management Training Package (published on 29/11/2017)
- AHC Agriculture, Horticulture, and Conservation and Land Management Training Package (published on 21/12/2017)
What does this mean for training providers?
Registered training organisations (RTOs) have 12 months to transition to delivering the new and update qualifications, skill sets and units, from the date of publish. For more information, visit the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) website.
Companion Volume Implementation Guides have also been produced to help training providers implement the new and revised qualifications, skill sets and units. These can be downloaded from VETNet.com.

Equine qualifications, skill sets and units from the RGR Racing Training Package were not included in this release. Feedback from industry was that the proposed safety measures being applied to the AHC and ACM units were not appropriate for the horse racing Industry. As such, a new Racing Project has been established to satisfactorily incorporate safety into the units, skill sets and qualifications within the RGR Racing Training Package
