Techniques based around principles of permaculture, organic production and composting are used by producers to keep up with consumer demand for sustainably grown produce and support future food security. It is important the national skills standards for working with these principles are kept up to date, so that future learners are equipped with the skills to provide for human needs in a way that works with natural processes and ecology.
Qualifications and skills standards for job roles and functions based in permaculture, organic production and composting are now available for validation and further comment.
The permaculture units have been updated to describe requirements for assessors. The organic production units have been updated to reflect necessary skills in compliance and certification schemes. The composting units have been updated to include reference to relevant legislation, standards and codes of practice.
Your input is encouraged to help check the qualifications, skill sets and units are accurate.
