Training Package Projects Underway

Our Role Establishing Skills Insight JSC

Skills Impact held a Skills Service Organisation (SSO) role between 2016 and 2022. In 2023 we established one of ten Job and Skills Councils (JSCs), after a submission to move into the role was backed by over 200 letters of support from a broad range of industry stakeholders. This new JSC, Skills Insight, has a broader scope to deliver outcomes that support a responsive VET system and a skilled and resilient national workforce. The industry coverage of Skills Insight is similar to our past coverage as a Skills Service Organisation.

Work to improve current training package standards and qualifications has now commenced in a number of areas.

Over the coming weeks and months we will be working with the relevant Industry Reference Committees (IRCs) to gather industry feedback about various areas and components of these projects.

Equine Safety in Training

This project will review occupational skills standards and units of competency to improve safety, quality and consistency in the delivery of equine training. It will impact the ACM Animal Care and Management; AHC Agriculture, Horticulture, and Conservation and Land Management; AMP Australian Meat Processing; and RGR Racing Training Packages.

Greyhounds (animal welfare and racing integrity)

This project will review occupational skill standards and units of competency from the RGR Racing Training Package, ensuring that racing integrity and animal welfare skills and knowledge critical to the industry are reflected in training. Public consultation will commence by 16 February.

Forest Harvesting Optimisation

This project will review and update occupational skills standards and units of competency, from the FWP Forest and Wood Products Training Package, in line with current forest harvesting optimisation processes and technologies.

Retail Baking

This project will review and align existing retail baking units of competency, skills sets and qualifications from the FDF10 Food Processing Training Package, to industry defined occupational standards.

This project will review relevant veterinary nursing units of competency and qualifications within the ACM10 Animal Care and Management Training Package, ensuring they reflect the current skill standards and needs of industry.
