As a result of the time and expertise volunteered by stakeholders over the past 12 months, Australia’s forest and timber industry will soon have access to updated skills standards for a range of job roles and tasks, including timber truss and frame estimating and manufacturing, timber building products supply, and working with new harvesting technologies.
The units, skill sets and qualifications have been endorsed by the Australian Industry and Skills Committee and State and Territory Ministers and will published on training.gov.au and available for RTOs to put on scope within the coming weeks.

New Timber Harvesting Technologies Project
The skills required for roles in forestry have been changing, with new technologies providing ways to make work more productive, sustainable and safe. These updated technical and digital skills have been captured in the review and development of units of competency for the harvesting sector.

Timber supply employees use their expert skills and knowledge of timber and timber products to provide customers with appropriate products and services.
