Thank you to those who participated in the validation process for the final draft skill sets and units of competency. The final drafts were made available on the Skills Impact website from 9 – 26 February 2018.
Validation means checking and confirming that the documents are logical and factually accurate. The final draft skill sets and units that were available for industry validation are listed below.
A summary of the feedback that was received during the consultation period (between 21 November – 19 December 2017) and a description of its consideration and application in these final drafts can be downloaded below.
Reviewed Qualifications and Units Proposed for Deletion
The two qualifications for wine operations have been reviewed to reflect appropriate alignment with AQF levels. There is now a clear distinction between the Certificate II and Certificate III which enables individuals to select specialisations within these qualifications, to provide pathways between the qualifications, as well as identifying clearer job roles. Thank you to those who provided feedback on these draft qualifications, as well as the proposal to replace several FDFWGG units with AHC equivalent units, in order to remove any duplication of units. Initially it was proposed that Wine Grape Growing (WGG) units would remain in the FBP Food, Beverage and Pharmaceutical Training Package and be recoded as Viticulture (VIT). Subsequently, the relevant Industry Reference Committees have agreed that the Wine Grape Growing (WGG) units are better suited in the Production Horticulture sector (PHT) within the AHC Agriculture, Horticulture and Conservation and Land Management Training Package.

The two qualifications for wine operations have been reviewed to reflect appropriate alignment with AQF levels. There is now a clear distinction between the Certificate II and Certificate III which enables individuals to select specialisations within these qualifications, to provide pathways between the qualifications, as well as identifying clearer job roles.

The requirement to achieve five (5) core units of competency has been reduced to 4 (four) core units of competency

- FDFOHS2001A Participate in OHS processes – now FBPWHS2001 Participate in work health and safety processes

The requirement to achieve twelve (12) elective units of competency has been reduced to eleven (11) core units of competency
This qualification allows for a generalist stream, as well as sector specific specialisations in:
- Bottling and packaging
- Cellar door
- Cellar operations
- Laboratory
- Viticulture
FBP3XX18 Certificate III in Wine Industry Operations

The requirement to achieve seven (7) core units of competency has been reduced to five (5) core units of competency
- FDFFS2001A Implement the food safety program and procedures replaced by FBPFSY3001 Monitor the implementation of quality and food safety programs as this is a core unit in the Certificate II in Wine Industry Operations
- FDFOHS2001A Participate in OHS processes removed as this is a core unit in the Certificate II in Wine Industry Operations

Initially it was proposed that Wine Grape Growing (WGG) units would remain in the FBP Food, Beverage and Pharmaceutical Training Package and be recoded as Viticulture (VIT). Subsequently, the relevant Industry Reference Committees have agreed that the Wine Grape Growing (WGG) units are better suited in the Production Horticulture sector (PHT) within the AHC Agriculture, Horticulture and Conservation and Land Management Training Package.
The following units are proposed for deletion, as existing units within the AHC Agriculture, Horticulture and Conservation and Land Management Training Package already address the required outcomes.
